The Book of Galatians establishes the correction as to how to return to the right believing of the doctrinal truths set forth in the Book of Romans. So many Christians today, as well as Christian churches, are stuck under the law. They refuse to live their lives under the grace that Jesus Christ suffered and died to give us. This is a book that needs to be studied. Bible study for many is a chore and as a result it is too often neglected. For many others Bible study is something that they do not know how to do, at least fruitfully. Writers of books specific to Bible study have a difficult task to undertake. Some fail in their undertaking by making their works too difficult to understand, too tedious to read, or quite simply by getting the message wrong. Joyce Meyer is not one of those authors. In her typical down to earth, clear and concise literary style she gets the job done, and in a very powerful life changing way!
In her new book, Galatians: A Biblical Study Joyce discusses the problems associated with the works of the flesh, which occur when we use our own human energy to try and accomplish what only God can do. People who seek acceptance from God through their own works live by fleshly efforts that leave them exhausted, worn-out, and frustrated.
This book was written to the end that readers actually study it. Joyce includes various Scripture references throughout the book that will deepen your understanding of what that particular section of the book is teaching. You are encouraged to look them up in order to maximize your study time. Several key truths are written about in this book; namely, rejecting legalism and embracing grace in every area of our lives, we are set free in Christ and we can stay free, we must walk in the spirit not in the flesh, and we reap what we sow.
This book is an enjoyable read! It's simplicity and clarity makes studying the Bible easy, joyful, and fruitful. At the end of each chapter there is a “Personal Reflection” section along with an area for jotting down notes. Joyce hit a home run with this one and I recommend this book very highly!!!
