Dr. David Jeremiah is the senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California. Messages preached in the pulpit at Shadow Mountain form the basis of Turning Point, his international radio and television ministries. The outreach of Turning Point Radio and Television programs is now worldwide. Dr. Jeremiah has authored more than 50 books. Among some of his most recent are: The Coming Economic Armageddon, I Never Thought I’d See the Day, God Loves You: He Always Has-He Always Will, What Are You Afraid of? Facing Down Your Fears With Faith, Agents of the Apocalypse, and Agents of Babylon. In 2013 Dr. Jeremiah published The Jeremiah Study Bible, a comprehensive yet easy-to-understand version that was over 40 years in the making. Dr. Jeremiah is much in demand as a speaker because of his commitment to the truth of the Bible and his special ability to help people understand how to apply biblical principles to everyday living.
The Jeremiah Study Bible containing Psalms and Proverbs (ESV) is leather bound and presents itself nicely and feels very comfortable in the hands. The paper quality is excellent and very smooth to the touch. Book Introductions by Dr. David Jeremiah are included at the beginning of each of the respective sections. Insightful study notes are found at the bottom of each page and I find this to be somewhat awkward and annoying. A better option in my view would be to have the notes appear next to the verses making their study much easier and more enjoyable. Throughout the book there are what I will call “nugget boxes” which include: Tough Questions, Picture This, fyi, Historically Speaking, For Reflection, Teaching Points, a Comparison Chart in Proverbs, and Essentials of the Christian Faith. These are conveniently found at the tops of their respective pages and I find them to be informative and useful.
As a daily study tool I am not really a fan of this book. That being said, I think that it really shines as a traveling companion and easy reference tool that you you can take with you wherever you go. It's convenient size makes it a nice "go to on the go" helpful resource.
